Carols on the Green

Just before Christmas 2024 Tim Heywood wondered if any musicians were up to a “Carols on the Green” event and posed the question to local residents via Facebook. He produced arrangements for several carols and hosted a couple of run-throughs. In a very short time the ensemble consisted of a pianist, ukulele player, bass and rhythm guitarists, three violinists, a tuba player, a trumpeter,  three saxophonists  and no less than five clarinetists!  Who’d have known there was such talent around the village? The plan was to assemble on The Green so everyone came along with brought lights and dressed in warm clothing. Unfortunately the weather was dire so all retired to the village hall where over 40 carollers sung out loudly. In all a brilliant, community led evening that all will remember for a long time. The same is already planned for December 23rd 2025 and, although the village hall will, no doubt, be available, let’s hope the weather is good enough to sing in the open air on The Green. Hopefully, there will be other events giving opportunity for this wonderful ensemble to perform before then.
